Hey All, Annster here, Just thought I would chuck a few words up here too, I don't want to feel left out. I think people are going to be really excited about our show, GOAT is going to be neat, and its going to address some issues that a lot of geeks deal with every day. And its going to deal with them in a fun way, you will be amazed at how delighted you are going to be when you see it. (these aren't the droids you're looking for...send us money) Wow, an unsolicited subliminal jedi mind-trick... came right out of left field.
Anyhow, I mainly just wanted to share with everyone all of the delightful things I have learned by working on this project. I have learned that I am really an AMAZINGLY talented actress, I should've been doing this a long time ago!! (you will know how UN-true this is when you see it) I'm playing the role of Olivia. I don't know the first thing about acting, I'm kind of dopey really, but the main thing is, I am having fun and I get to spend ALL of my free time working on this project. You see, I am married to the director, so I get all kinds of fun "side" projects. You will learn more about Olivia as the show progresses.
I want to give a shout out to the crew, you guys ROCK the MOST!!!!
I'm hopping on the rocket to red-hot love now, but I will be back for more later. Have to rehearse tonight! Filming our last scene on Sunday, WOO HOO!
please stay tuned, you are in for a real treat!! and if you ever need any advice, soon, you'll be able to ask annster, I am chock full of good advice and ideas. : ) seriously!
eat at Sals.
Testing the TOP SECRET Blog Sender Thingy
Hi Again. BBPhrogger here, blogging for Dogshadow Productions. To give you some idea of what it is I do at DSP, I am the writer, director, and co-star of Project GOAT, Episode 0. GOAT is the working title for the series, and we're starting with episode 0 for two reasons: First of all, we're total geeks, and since our computers start counting at 0 we do too. Second, this is a pilot episode, which we intend to shop around to local businesses so they can pay for product placement, thus allowing us to raise money to make future episodes. Neat, huh? I was told to keep that part a secret, but I've decided to let the cat out of the bag for two reasons: First, we're almost done filming, so I'm hoping that by the time someone gets around to stealing our idea, we'll be in the process of executing our brilliant plan. Second, if we never tell anyone what our plan is, how will they ever know that we want them to give us money? Seriously. We can't keep everything a secret forever. We'll be like that guy who makes art in his parents' basement and never shows it to anyone because someone might steal it. That's practical.
So our second camera is on its way. Our next scene will, in theory, take half as long to shoot as it would have because we'll be able to cover two angles at the same time. We're coming dangerously close to becoming a true sitcom. There's a scary thought. I think there's a bit too much drama in the script to be too sitcomish. And we'll never have a studio audience. Not only because it's silly, but also because we can't remember a whole episode worth of lines at once.
I'm going to sign off now for two reasons: First of all, I want to go play video games. Second, I'm coming up with exactly two reasons for everything right now, which feels just a little bit too binary for me. I think I'll wait until I'm feeling a bit more hexadecimal before I blog again.
As You Will See...
Gypsyhoney here. I wanted to apologize in advance. You see, I'm not an actress. I probably never will be an actress. But I wanted to try harder for this project since I always thought I could at least do better than the average bear. I think the reason it's hard for me to do better is that this is a little close to home. We've all been with people like you'r going to see. We've had the über-drama of caring too much someone's goings-on, or not caring enough, even with all its childish glory. Plus, my character is a lot like me (no comments please). I wanted to avoid that as much as possible, but do you really ever outrun yourself? I have to say that Quincy's character is the most enviable as far as roles go. I would love to just go to every filming session knowing I get to be a total asshole all day and get away with it. Catharsis. But the downside--I'd have to remember all those lines and do all that...'acting' stuff.
Great job on bigweirdguy's part in this production, by the way. Even though we're all putting extra time, money and energy. Huge thanks to our crew--you guys aren't getting paid, you know that right?
Catching Up (As Usual)
Bigweirdguy here. Filming is hard. But I was talking with
bbphrogger the other day and he mentioned how it's the editing and putting stuff together that's the fun part. Of course, I thought, that is why I wanted to keep doing this too.
Doing the D&D movie was so...right. That sounds weird, but I can think of no better word. We found out about the contest a month before the due date, and filmed and edited it in 2 weeks, thanks in very large part to
bbphrogger. He wrote it, starred in it, (had the most
screentime anyway) did still photography of the minis and edited the crap out of it. Oh yeah, and did all the sound editing and manned the
ADR setup that we put together. I never spent so much time in front of a microphone at once. This time 'round, we're going for better sound captured on set.
Also, we've added some actual crew to our little production group. There's
rcat, our sound guy;
bigboy, one of the art guys, camera man and bit player; and no.name, the main art dept guy. Now, we are free to concentrate on our "acting" and directing, in
bbphrogger's case. More later.
We're Back!
Bigweirdguy here. Wonder where we've been? I have, too. Fact is, life intervenes when you're trying to do anything beyond the normal 9 to 5 blather, right? Old news.
Since about March of this year, we've been working hard on getting our first production off the ground. To wit, the script went through some major revisions and we were able to tighten it up. Also, there was a recast in one of the major characters. (Not a major recast, mind you. Bbphrogger and I traded characters, essentially) We're in the process now of filming scenes. As a matter of fact, this morning, bbphrogger and "perry" went to re-shoot one of the last scenes that I had filmed with perry previously.
Meanwhile, we do what we can during our normal workday. Look forward to an updated website and possibly some behind-the-scenes clips.
